Best Fish Restaurant in Amsterdam

Are you going to Amsterdam soon? Love yourself some fish? And really liking restaurants that are doing things differently? In this article I’m telling you more about my favourite fish restaurant in Amsterdam: PESCA!

Let me start by telling you something about the atmosphere. It’s so super cosy with all the lights there and the brick walls, which I love!

Before sitting down at your table

When entering, you get a glass of Champagne and you walk over the fish market. They have fresh fish coming in every day and it’s just like you are on the fish market. You can choose the things that you want and also order some extra things like veggies.

After choosing your food, you’re moving forward to the wine section and there you’re choosing your drinks. Every wine is displayed. Of course, you can also order a delicious cocktail.

Chosen wine & foods

This time I’ve chosen the Irish oysters to start and they were delicious! After that we got the scallops (4 of them in total, my mom got greedy) and the pulpo (here’s where I got greedy too). As the big fish we chose the monkfish together with the eggplant. I’m telling you.. Major recommendation! It all was so very delicious! Now, regarding the wine:
She recommended a bottle of wine that would go well with our food: Chablis. In the beginning I wasn’t super excited about the wine, but at the time of eating the monkfish, it came together really well.

I was a little disappointed by the pavlova we ordered as a dessert. It was very small and not very creamy, so that could’ve been better. After the pavlova I got myself a limoncello (which I love) and my mom had an espresso.

For this dinner for two people I’ve paid a total of € 220,- including the tip.

I’m telling you: this really is the best fish restaurant in Amsterdam. They’re not just like any normal restaurant. They go for the experience and I love it. The atmosphere is amazing, the service is great and the wines and food are delicious!

Where & how can you make a reservation?

You have to book in advance. Normally making a reservation for the weekend in the same week is not going to provide you with a guaranteed reservation, but you can put your name on the waitlist and be prepared to hear maybe an hour before you can go if they have a table available for you.

If you do know in advance that you want to go here, make a reservation. When you make a reservation, they ask you to pay € 10,- per person in advance. It’s just a guarantee for them to know that you won’t be a no show.

You can make a reservation right here.

Where are they located?

Pesca is located at the Rozengracht. Here are your directions.

Have you been to Pesca before? Or are you definitely making a reservation? Let me know what your experience was!
